There's no Monologue for Windows
Monologue comes from Every, the company behind Cora, Spiral, and Sparkle. It has native apps for Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. For Windows and Android there's a waitlist that emails you when it's ready, with no date. Glimpse isn't affiliated with Monologue or Every. It's a separate app, built by one developer, that runs on Windows and Mac today.
What Monologue does well
Monologue is built to make your words come out polished. Modes for chatting, email, notes, and code change how it formats, and you can write your own. With permission, it looks at your screen so it knows what you're replying to. It handles more than 100 languages, learns names and jargon, takes voice notes, and writes up meetings without a bot joining the call. If you live on a Mac and an iPhone, it's a strong pick.
What you get with Glimpse on a PC
Press Ctrl+Shift+Space, talk, and the text lands in whatever app you're in. The speech model runs on your PC: Whisper, Distil-Whisper, Parakeet, Qwen3-ASR, or Nemotron streaming. Every model is free for dictation, with no word limit. The custom dictionary, Auto Dictionary, replacements, and history are free too. A license adds AI Cleanup, Edit Mode, and per-app styles, so Slack gets casual and email gets tidy. Glimpse doesn't read the text on your screen. Styles switch on the app or website you're in.
Your voice, your machine
Monologue offers local transcription on Mac, but its formatting runs through cloud AI providers (Groq, Fireworks, and OpenRouter, per its privacy policy), which it says keep zero data. Glimpse transcribes on your PC by default. For cleanup, point it at Ollama or LM Studio and nothing leaves your machine, or add your own cloud key and the request goes straight to that provider. Glimpse sends anonymous usage telemetry (never audio or transcripts), and you can switch it off. The code is open source, so you can check.
Pricing
Monologue is free for your first 1,000 words and 10 notes. Pro is $15 a month or $144 a year, and it's included in Every's bundle. Glimpse dictation is free, forever. A license for the extras (AI Cleanup, Edit Mode, per-app styles, the Library, and Recording mode) is $25 once for one device, or $39 for three, after a 14-day trial. No subscription.
Getting started on Windows
Glimpse runs on Windows 10 and later. Install it from the Microsoft Store or download the installer directly, pick a model, and start talking. Glimpse can't import from Monologue, so add your dictionary words again, or let Auto Dictionary pick them up as you go.
