Is Glimpse a good dictation app for clinical notes?
It types into any app including your EHR, learns your medical vocabulary, and runs locally on your machine. It is a dictation tool, not an ambient AI scribe. You can record a visit and get a transcript, with speakers told apart on your device, but it won't write the note for you.
Is Glimpse HIPAA compliant?
Glimpse makes no HIPAA compliance claim and is not a certified medical product. HIPAA compliance depends on how your organization handles protected health information, not on any single app. What Glimpse does: transcription runs on your device, and your audio and notes are not uploaded to us. Confirm your full setup with your compliance team.
Does my patient audio or notes leave my computer?
Not unless you choose to send it. Transcription happens on your machine, and Glimpse does not upload your audio, transcripts, or notes. If you turn on a cloud speech or AI provider, audio or text goes straight to that provider. Anonymous usage analytics never include audio or text, and you can turn them off.
Does it work inside my EHR?
Glimpse types into whatever app or text field has your cursor, so it works in browser-based and desktop EHRs, messaging, and documents. There is no special integration to set up.
Is medical dictation free?
Yes. Voice dictation, custom dictionary entries, and text replacements are free on macOS and Windows. The Library, Recording, AI Cleanup, and Edit Mode need a license, and new installs get a 14-day trial. For clinical work, Glimpse Business is $48 per seat per year.
What does a commercial license include?
Glimpse Business covers paid work use, one seat per person on one work device, and unlocks the paid features: the Library, Recording, AI Cleanup, Edit Mode, Personalization, the CLI, and the local API. Dictation itself stays free either way. See the license page for plan details.
