Hey, I'm Garon.

Glimpse is made mostly by me. I talk a lot faster than I type, and I wanted dictation that worked everywhere without sending my voice to someone's server or charging me every month. Nothing I tried really did all of that, so I built it.

What Glimpse is

Voice dictation and meeting transcription that run on your computer. Press your shortcut, talk, and your words show up wherever you're typing. Recording Mode records meetings, calls and lectures, with a live transcript that labels each speaker.

Runs on your computer

Speech is transcribed on your Mac or PC, and it still works with the wifi off. Cloud features only run if you add your own provider key. The app's anonymous usage stats are explained on the privacy page.

Open source

The app is on GitHub under AGPL-3.0, and the speech engine, Glimpse-Speech, is MIT.

Mac and Windows

macOS 14 or later, and Windows 10 or later, also on the Microsoft Store. See the download page.

Free dictation

Dictation is free with no word limits on every model. A license adds the extras, like recording meetings, AI cleanup and transcribing audio and video files.

Why there's a paid part

I don't think you should have to pay to talk to your own computer, so dictation stays free. Licenses are how I keep working on Glimpse.
