Is Glimpse really free?
Yes. Voice dictation is free forever, with no word limits and no trial clock. Glimpse Personal is a one-time $24.99 purchase that unlocks the extra features, but you never have to buy it to keep dictating.
What is the difference between free and Glimpse Personal?
Free gives you local dictation in any app. Personal adds the Library, AI writing, Personalization, developer tools, and use on up to 5 of your personal devices. When you install Glimpse you get a limited 2-week free trial of the paid features, then it drops to free dictation forever.
Does Glimpse work offline?
Yes. Core transcription runs entirely on your device, so dictation works on a plane, on a train, or with the wifi out. Optional AI features can call an LLM provider you configure, but plain dictation never needs the internet.
Does my voice or audio get sent to the cloud?
No. Transcription happens locally on your machine. Your audio never leaves your device, and we never receive your audio, transcripts, or API keys.
Which platforms does Glimpse support?
Glimpse runs on macOS and Windows. Both are first-class. There is no mobile app, since dictation into desktop apps is the point.
Is there a subscription?
Not for individuals. Glimpse Personal is a one-time purchase of $24.99 with no recurring fee, and free dictation always stays free. Commercial use is licensed per seat per year, starting at $48 per seat, so businesses fund ongoing support and work-use rights.
Can I try the paid features before buying?
Yes. Every install starts with a limited 2-week free trial of the paid features. After the trial, Glimpse keeps working as free dictation, and you can buy Personal whenever you want the extras back.
How many devices does one license cover?
A Personal license covers up to 5 of your own devices. A Commercial seat covers one person on one work device.
Do you offer student or disability discounts?

Do you offer refunds?
Yes. If Glimpse Personal is not for you, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. See the Terms page for details.
Is Glimpse open source?
Yes. Glimpse is open source under AGPL-3.0, so you can read exactly what it does and audit the privacy claims yourself.
