Is Glimpse really free?
Yes. Voice dictation is free forever, with no word limits and no trial clock. Paid plans start at a one-time $25 purchase that unlocks the extra features, but you never have to buy one to keep dictating.
What is the difference between free and the paid plans?
Free gives you local dictation in any app. Paid plans add Recording Mode, the Library, AI writing, Personalization, developer tools, and use on more devices: Solo covers 1 device, Plus covers up to 3. When you install Glimpse you get a limited 2-week free trial of the paid features, then it drops to free dictation forever.
Does Glimpse work offline?
Yes. Core transcription runs entirely on your device, so dictation works on a plane, on a train, or with the wifi out. Optional AI features can call an LLM provider you configure, but plain dictation never needs the internet.
Does my voice or audio get sent to the cloud?
No. Transcription happens locally on your machine. Your audio never leaves your device, and we never receive your audio, transcripts, or API keys.
Can Glimpse record and transcribe meetings?
Yes. Recording Mode records meetings, calls, lectures, or anything playing on your computer. Your microphone and your computer's audio are kept on separate tracks, so the transcript knows what you said and what everyone else said. You can record your whole computer or only the apps you pick, like Zoom or your browser, and add bookmarks as you go. A live transcript shows what's being said while you record, labeled by speaker. It uses the same local models as dictation. Recording your computer's audio needs macOS 14.2 or later, and picking apps on Windows needs Windows 10 version 2004 or later.
How does Glimpse tell speakers apart?
Glimpse uses NVIDIA Nemotron 3 Diarization, running on your computer, to label up to 8 speakers in recordings and imported files. Your microphone and your computer's audio are separate tracks, so your own lines are always labeled as you. It works offline and doesn't need an NVIDIA graphics card.
Which platforms does Glimpse support?
Glimpse runs on macOS and Windows. Both are first-class. There is no mobile app, since dictation into desktop apps is the point.
Is there a subscription?
Not for individuals. Paid plans are one-time purchases starting at $25 with no recurring fee, and free dictation always stays free. Business use is licensed per seat per year, starting at $48 per seat, so businesses fund ongoing support and work-use rights.
Can I try the paid features before buying?
Yes. Every install starts with a limited 2-week free trial of the paid features. After the trial, Glimpse keeps working as free dictation, and you can buy a plan whenever you want the extras back.
How many devices does one license cover?
Solo covers 1 device, Plus covers up to 3. A Business seat covers one person on one work device.
