Dictation for dyslexia
Your ideas don't have to wait on spelling. Press a shortcut, say what you mean, and Glimpse types it wherever your cursor is, spelled out. Free and unlimited on Mac and Windows, and it runs on your own computer.
Talk, and the words come out spelled
Speech models write whole words, so you can use the word you actually want instead of the one you're sure how to spell. Glimpse works in any app: email, chat, documents, forms, a search box. Hold the shortcut while you talk, tap it to start and stop, or use Smart Press to do either.
Teach it the tricky words
Add names, places and terms to your custom dictionary, and Auto Dictionary picks up new ones on its own. Replacements turn a short phrase into something long you'd rather not type: say “my address” and get the whole thing. All of it is free.
Fix it by voice
With a license, AI Cleanup can tidy grammar and punctuation with a language model you pick, and Edit Mode lets you select text and say how to change it, like “make this shorter” or “turn this into a list”. Both are in the 14-day trial, so you can see if they help first.
Take your time
Pause to think as long as you need. Glimpse keeps listening until you stop it, and every dictation is saved to History, searchable, so nothing you said is lost. It runs offline on your Mac or PC, so what you say stays on your computer.
What it doesn't do
Glimpse turns speech into text. It doesn't read text aloud, so if hearing your writing played back helps you, pair it with the read-aloud tool built into your computer or browser. Dictation is free forever, the extras are a one-time $25, and student and disability discounts are available.
Common questions
Does dictation help with dyslexia?
Many people with dyslexia find it easier to say what they mean than to type it, because the words come out spelled. Glimpse is a general dictation app, not a medical or assistive therapy product, so try it free and see if it fits how you work.
Can Glimpse read my text back to me?
No. Glimpse only turns speech into text. Mac, Windows and most browsers have a built-in read-aloud feature you can use alongside it.
What if it gets a word wrong?
Add the word to your custom dictionary and it comes out right more often. Auto Dictionary can also pick up words you use on its own. With a license, Edit Mode lets you select text and say how to fix it.
Is Glimpse free?
Yes. Dictation is free and unlimited on every local model, on Mac and Windows. A one-time license adds extras like AI Cleanup and Edit Mode, and student and disability discounts are available.
