Introducing Recording Mode

Glimpse can now record your meetings, calls, lectures and anything else playing on your computer, and turn it all into a transcript with the same models you dictate with. Start a recording from the new Record screen or the menu bar. Your microphone and your computer's audio are kept as separate tracks, so the transcript knows what you said and what everyone else said.

Recording Mode

• Choose what to record. Your microphone, your whole computer, or only the apps you pick, like Zoom or your browser. Glimpse starts the next recording with the same setup.
• Bookmarks. Mark a moment while you record, add a note, and jump straight back to it later in the Library. Markdown and text exports list them at the top.
• Menu bar controls. Keep an eye on the timer, and pause, bookmark or finish without opening Glimpse.
• No doubled words. When your microphone hears the other side through your speakers, Glimpse recognizes it and keeps those words out of your side of the transcript.
• Nothing lost. If Glimpse quits in the middle of a recording, it's saved to your Library the next time you open the app.
• Both sides in the Library. Play the recording back with both tracks together, or mute either one.
• Control it from anywhere. Start, pause, bookmark and finish recordings from Raycast or with glimpse record on the command line.

Recording your computer's audio needs macOS 14.2 or later. Picking apps on Windows needs Windows 10 version 2004 or later.

New models

Glimpse now runs transcribe.cpp, a new local engine, alongside the existing ones.

• Parakeet TDT 0.6B V3 (GGUF). Now the default Parakeet, and available on Windows and Intel Macs too. With Neural Engine acceleration on Apple Silicon it transcribed over 4× faster in our M2 Pro benchmark.
• Qwen3-ASR 0.6B. 30 languages, works with your custom dictionary, with optional Neural Engine acceleration.
• Neural Engine on by default. On Apple Silicon, acceleration is now turned on for you.

Everything else

• A simpler Library. Plain rows or a grid, and a transcript that follows along as it plays. Long files come out cleaner, without repeated words where the pieces are stitched together.
• Faster onboarding. Setup is shorter, ends with a practice dictation, and hands you off to the app more smoothly.
• Your stats. The Account screen shows your dictation statistics, and you can share them as a picture.
• Raycast. The extension gains recording controls, a Record screen shortcut, and a Manage Replacements command.
• Command line. Transcribing from the CLI uses your selected model, including cloud models. Add --local to keep the audio on your computer.

Recording Mode is part of Glimpse Personal and Commercial, and every new install gets a two-week trial. Dictation stays free.
