Every word, as it's spoken

Glimpse 1.3 adds live transcripts to Recording Mode. While you record a meeting, call or lecture, you can watch the transcript come in as people talk, with each line labeled by speaker. It's also a lot faster and a lot smaller, and it all still runs on your Mac or PC.

Follow along, live

Open the live transcript from any recording and a small window keeps up with the conversation. If you miss a name or drift off for a minute, glance over and you're caught up.

• Who said what. Lines are labeled by speaker as they come in, and you can rename anyone as soon as you know who they are.
• Controls right there. Bookmark a moment, pause or stop from the same window, or shrink it down to just the controls.
• Dictation still comes first. The live transcript only runs while the window is open, dictating during a recording stays just as quick, and what you dictate no longer ends up in the recording.

Your dictionary, on more models

Your dictionary now works with Parakeet and Nemotron, so the names, products and jargon you add come out right more often, whichever model you use. With Whisper, most words now line up within a tenth of a second of when they're spoken, instead of landing about a quarter second late.

Faster

Whisper, Parakeet and Nemotron now all run on transcribe.cpp, an open-source speech library. Glimpse uses a heavily modified fork of it, and we're putting our work into that one shared backend instead of a separate engine per model. Every improvement there now speeds up all of them at once, and 1.3 is the first big result.

• Up to 6 times faster on Windows. Parakeet is up to 6 times faster, and Nemotron about 1.5 times.
• Twice as fast on the Neural Engine. Whisper's new Neural Engine version doubles its speed, and Large V3 and Large V3 Turbo now run there too. On an M2 Pro, Parakeet TDT V3 takes 40% less time, and Parakeet Unified transcribes Library recordings in about half the time.
• Quicker to finish. Dictation lands up to a quarter of a second sooner after you let go of the shortcut.

Smaller

The app itself is about a third smaller, down to 32 MB on Apple Silicon and 82 MB on Windows. Nemotron Streaming models went from 2.5 GB to about 750 MB, and Qwen3-ASR on the Neural Engine is smaller and uses less memory. When a model you use gets a new version, Glimpse downloads it in the background while you keep working.

Intel Macs get more models too. Parakeet Unified and the Nemotron models now run on them, and new installs start with Parakeet TDT V3, like on Apple Silicon and Windows.

More reliable recordings

If your disk fills up or a recording can't be saved, Glimpse now stops, keeps everything captured so far, and tells you why. It warns you before you start when space is low, and lets you know if your microphone or the app you're recording hasn't made a sound yet.

Speaker names and colors stay put when you detect speakers or transcribe again. Model downloads explain what went wrong and offer to retry. On Windows, Glimpse shows when your microphone is blocked and takes you straight to the setting that fixes it. And light mode is warmer, with colors that match the Glimpse logo.
